Tips for healthier skin using lemon

It’s no secret…I sort of have a love affair with lemons and I know those close to me would definitely agree because I managed to get them to join my lemonade bandwagon.:-) A little over three years ago I embarked on a journey to make conscious changes in my lifestyle. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning was one of those changes and it quickly became my go to fix for almost everything from dealing with stomach discomfort, to curing common cold, as an instant sinus remedy (especially), sore throat, heartburn etc. and recently an inexpensive beauty fix! Let’s focus on the beauty part shall we? Continue reading “Tips for healthier skin using lemon”

Lessons Learned Chasing Life in My 20s

Photography by – Halisee

Life is tough but one thing is sure putting yourself down won’t make it any easier. Being in your 20s is one weird, wild emotional roller coaster. Sure, we all have our bad days everything goes wrong, nothing seems to go your way and you are just not feeling good enough but it stings just a little more when you are trying to get your life together. Everything feels like it’s one mistake away from falling apart. I have been told countless times how life is easier when you are in your 20s like life is one big party because you have less responsibilities. But when you have dreams, goals, ambitions and you are jobless wilting at the weight of your frustrations and expectations is not only possible but an inevitability! It’s been one year since I completed campus and everything is constantly changing some great, some not so good and others downright ugly! Personally, I found it jarring how unprepared I was for the “real world”. Clearly there is SO much that we experience after graduation that I would have been so grateful to learn before that day came. Here are some of the most important things I’ve learned so far some of which I wish someone told me and not just about getting married or having kids which was covered extensively in my sociology lectures! Thank you! Continue reading “Lessons Learned Chasing Life in My 20s”

When Life Gives You Curves…

Photography by Halisee

…you flaunt them! A few years back and a few kgs ago I wouldn’t be caught dead in a jumpsuit or anything that wasn’t a size or two bigger. Shopping was simple “anything baggy goes” was my shopping guide. I felt miserable, I was going through one of the worst “body hating “period of my life and it showed. You can spot a self-confident woman a mile away and that wasn’t me. Continue reading “When Life Gives You Curves…”

The Girl in the Pink!

Photography by Halisee

Howdy folks,

As I write this article it’s raining heavily I don’t think this outfit is perfect for this kind of weather but then again it’s a blazer dress so I guess it wouldn’t be so far off right? Its fuchsia embellished with cute gold buttons making it a statement piece so just throw on a trench coat and it will take you from work to formal event and coffee after work. Don’t let the rain dull your sparkle! Continue reading “The Girl in the Pink!”

Ola! Mon’Amie,

I believe that when it comes wardrobe essentials the classic white button-down shirt automatically earns a spot at the top of the list. It’s the real deal: the true wear anywhere staple. Tuck it in or let it loose; tie it in knots or fashion an expert cuff – you can’t go wrong with this year-round essential. Trends come and go but the versatility of the white button-down is perpetual. Continue reading “Double Trouble!”

On The Rainy Days

Hola Beautiful People,

“You can never have too many pullovers” words to live by! The cowl neck sweater is perfect for those days where you want to wear a sweater that basically has a built-in circle scarf. It’s also versatile because the split sides and its  light yet warm knit easily creeps into sunny days. Super easy to throw over a pair of jeans or leggings for casual days plus its color blocked so WIN WIN! Whoever says you can’t be both warm and chic on ’em rainy days has not met this sweater! 7 Things Every Woman Should know

April was supposed to be different. There are goals I was hoping to have achieved by the beginning of April and that has made the past few days gloom and unbearable and not just because of the rain. I know some goals require a bit more time and patience but I still beat myself up and felt like a complete thing I have come to learn about myself is that I love being in control and control is the one thing I don’t have; haven’t had for a while now. Remembering that I need to let go and let God (after bawling my eyes out underneath a blanket for three hours and twenty two minutes) was like a silken scarf wrapping around me and receiving an email from a friend on ‘7 things every woman should know’ gave me a much needed jolt of confidence to get up, dress up and show up. I hope it helps you in one way or the other. Continue reading “7 Things Every Woman Should know”

It’s Handled..

When I think about fashion I relate it to a having it all; the misguided notion that a woman has to be either smart or beautiful; powerful or pretty and not both is just sad and quite frankly demeaning. I believe you can be fabulous and fearless and you do not have to compromise who you are as a woman to fit somebody’s expectation of what power looks like. Yes you can be both successful and fashion-forward without sacrificing one for the other. Continue reading “It’s Handled..”

Meshing and Netting

Hola Beautiful people!

Please grab a cuppa today’s post is a bit longer than usual!
I joined boarding school at a very young age after being tricked into thinking it would be a lot of fun. Well, it wasn’t! Apart from feeling homesick, one of the many things I struggled with was the morning routine; I hated every minute of it especially waking up. We would be woken up at around 5 am by a bell and the dorm captain singing a song that went a little something like this, “Good morning Jesus, Good morning Lord….” Continue reading “Meshing and Netting”
